Last Week's Results
Friday at #12 UC San Diego, W, 1-0
Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino, W, 3-1
Series Record vs. Chico State: The Wildcats lead the alltime series (14-7-6) in this heated rivalry but Cal State Stanislaus dominated Chico State in 2011, going 2-0-2, including a 4-0 win for the CCAA Championship. The Warriors also beat the Wildcats on Sept. 28, 1-0, in Chico.
Series Notes vs. Sonoma State: Cal State Stanislaus, ranked No. 21 at the time, beat No. 2 Sonoma State on Sept. 23, 4-1, in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves are now 18-5-3 against the Warriors alltime. The Warriors, however, are 1-1-2 against SSU in the last two seasons.
Roller Coaster Ride in the Rankings: The Warriors took a big dip last week to No. 20 in the NSCAA Top 25 but leaped back up to No. 8 in this week's poll. Stanislaus is also No. 1 in the West once again according to the coaches poll. In the regional poll that matters the most, the NCAA rated the Warriors No. 1 this week after a No. 6 ranking in the initial poll last week.
Going for the Most Wins: With one more victory, the 2012 Warriors can tie for the program's best record at 15 wins. The 2005 team went 15-4-2.
Perfect Road Warriors: Cal State Stanislaus completed its regular season road schedule with a perfect mark of 9-0. The Warriors have not lost in an "away" contest since Sept. 23, 2011 (at Cal State East Bay) for a string of 15 straight matches with either a win or a tie (13-0-2). In 2011, the Warriors were 5-1-3 on the road (excluding the NCAA Championship neutral site game).
Emily Leads in Assists: Emily Relles continues to set-up goals for the Warriors as she still leads the CCAA with 12 assists. She now has 17 in her career, fourth on the CSUS all-time list. In 2012, Relles has assisted in nine different matches and three times with two assists in a game. She has also been credited with an assist in each of the last four contests.
Whitney Catching Fire: Apryl Whitney has been hot lately, coming off the bench to score goals. She has now scored in three straight matches, including last Friday's lone goal in the win over UC San Diego. She also scored the game-winner in Sunday's 3-1 against Cal State San Bernardino.
50-20-120: These are the amazing numbers for
Karenee Demery at this point in her career. The All-American forward has scored 50 goals with 20 assists for 120 points in three seasons. She also has 23 game-winning goals. She only needs four more career assists to claim all four Cal State Stanislaus records.
About Chico State (6-10, 4-9 CCAA North): The Wildcats are in fourth place in the CCAA North. The Wildcats are 1-4 in their last five games with the win against Cal State San Bernardino. Goalkeeper Brianna Furner leads the CCAA with 72 saves. Scotie Walker has five goals and 11 points.
About Sonoma State (13-2-1, 10-2-1 CCAA North): Sonoma State is ranked No. 2, behind the Warriors, in this week's NCAA regional poll. The Seawolves lead the CCAA North by one point heading into the weekend but only has one standing-counting conference match remaining (Sunday at Cal State Stanislaus). SSU lost a Cal St. Dominguez Hills and beat Cal State L.A. last week on the road. Cara Curtin is second in the CCAA scoring with 13 goals and 30 points.
