Box Score CHICO — Don't let the final score of 3-1 in favor of Chico State fool you. The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team actually turned in one of their best nights this season before coming up on the short end of the results.

Chico State, one of the better teams in the CCAA now at 16-9 (10-8 CCAA), held off the Warriors in four sets, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20. Despite the good effort, Cal State Stanislaus dropped to 7-19 overall and 4-14 in conference play.

Jennifer Marsh tied her career high with 17 kills -- her third straight double-digit match. Janay Bankston had 11 kills, Andrea Fett nine and Jordan Harris added eight. As a team, the Warriors put-away 58, the second-best performance this season (they hit .230 versus Chico's .211).

Kendal Munoz also posted her second best assist total for her freshman season with 44. Ashley Pittman had 21 digs -- just three shy of her career best. Fett also helped out with 16 digs and Jaclyn Pinasco had 15.

The match was tight throughout at Acker Gym, however, each time Stanislaus rallied to tie or go-ahead, the Wildcats would respond. Chico State ended up with two straight kills to win set No. 1 and Alex Shurtz had four kills in a row for Chico State to finish up set two. The Wildcats held off back-to-back spikes from Marsh with a Lindsay Quigley kill to win No. 4.

In the third set, points by Harris and Bankston gave the Warriors a 23-20 lead. A sideout and two Chico points later, a service error and an attacking error gave Stanislaus the win.

Shurtz led all players with 24 kills, Emily Duran had 22 digs and Sable Villaescusa dished 56 assists to lead Chico.

Cal State Stanislaus will wrap up its home schedule this weekend with a pair on Friday and Saturday. Saturday night's match, at 7 p.m., against Cal State East Bay will be senior night.
