TURLOCK — Showing off its offensive depth, the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team got two goals apiece from players not named Demery or Poon on Sunday in the Warriors' dominating 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay.
Katelyn Nebesnick, playing in place of captain
Alexia Poon, scored twice and
Allie Dugan netted two second half scores to help the Warriors improve to 5-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the CCAA.
"Katelyn did a great job coming in for Alexia. There are a lot of good players on the team, Alexia is a special player and our team captain," head coach
Gabriel Bolton said. "The mentality you have to have is next woman up and you've got to play."
Nebesnick got the Warriors on the board in the 16th minute, finishing two great touches by her teammates. First
Alisa Barlow found Dugan wide on the far side. Dugan crossed it in front of the goalkeeper as Nebesnick beat two defenders to the ball for the goal.
It only took Stanislaus 47 seconds into the second half to make it 2-0. Dugan scored her first goal of the match on an assist by
Emily Relles. Relles then connected with Nebesnick in the 57th minute to make it 3-0.
"Katelyn was awesome. She played fantastic and really is a goal scorer. I had a lot of confidence in her and all of the other players that came in to play," Bolton added.
Dugan knocked home her second score less than two minutes later off of a corner kick. The corner kick from Relles into the box was deflected by
Karenee Demery, touched by
Allison Case to find Dugan on the near-side for the goal.
Goalkeeper
Millie Brown picked up three saves on the day. She now has 198 career saves with 21 shutouts.
It was the Warriors' second four-goal match this season and the first 4-0 win since the CCAA Championship win over Chico State. Cal State Stanislaus has out-scored opponents 9-1 in the last three matches.
The Warriors will be on the road next week at Humboldt State and Sonoma State.
