Single road match coming up for the Warriors

Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer will have just one single match on the road this week as they visit Sonoma State on Sunday.

Series Notes vs. Sonoma State: The Warriors went 1-0-1 last season against Sonoma State and are now 6-16-2 in the series. Unfortunately Stanislaus has not been victorious in Rohnert Park with a 0-11-1 mark.

Sonoma State Ranked: The Seawolves of Sonoma State is the only CCAA team to make it on top the Top 25 this week. Sonoma State is ranked No. 18 by the NSCAA. SSU is ranked No. 3 in the West while the Warriors are at No. 8 in the region, drown from No. 6.

Offense Back on Track: After being held scoreless for more than 213 minutes in two and a half matches, the Warriors got on the board in a hurry on Sunday. It took just 62 seconds to end the scoring draught when Jose Ramirez scored against Cal State East Bay. In four victories, the Warriors have now outscored opponents 9-3.

Another One Bites the Dust, Via the Shutout: The Stanislaus defense and goalkeeper Clint Long recorded two shutouts last weekend and held opposition to just 21 shots and eight on frame total. So far this season Long, who has played every minute, has posted a 1.00 goals against average and 81.8 saves percentage.

One Game This Week? The Warriors will get Friday off since they were originally scheduled to face Humboldt State in Arcata. HSU canceled its men's soccer season due to a hazing incident prior to the start of the academic year. Stanislaus men will have a similar schedule next week with a single game at Chico State on Friday and getting a bye on Sunday when Humboldt State was supposed to visit.

About Sonoma State (5-1-0, 4-0-0 CCAA): The Seawolves have won four straight to start hte CCAA season with wins at Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State East Bay and a pair of shutout wins at home against San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona. SSU has recorded three shutouts in-a-row and has four for the season. Taylor Varnadore leads with six goals and three assists.
