Last Week's Results
Sunday at Sonoma State, T, 1-1
Series Notes vs. Chico State: Even though Chico State holds a 18-5-1 advantage over the Warriors, Cal State Stanislaus is 2-3-1 in the last six meetings. The Warriors are 1-10-1 in matches played in Chico.
Going To Be A Close One: Friday's match could be yet another closely contested match between the rivals. Of the last 14 meetings since 2005, 12 of those contests were decided by one goal or less (the other two were 2-0 scores). Nine of those games had the final score of 1-0.
Up to the Challenge: Last Sunday, against No. 18 Sonoma State at the unfriendly confines of Seawolf Soccer Field, the Stanislaus men were up to the challenge coming away with a 1-1 draw.
Nolan Holdridge's header in the 38th minute was the equalizer.
Long Earning His Saves: Goalkeeper
Clint Long picked up five more saves, many in spectacular fashion. He now leads the CCAA with 32 and has played every second of the seven matches.
Holdridge Putting Up the Points: As a defender,
Nolan Holdridge is putting up some offensive numbers as he is currently fifth among CCAA players with seven points. Holdridge, the Warriors' points leader, has two goals and three assists in seven matches.
Preparing for One Match: For the second straight week the Warriors will only be preparing to face one opponent. Sunday's match against Humboldt State at Warrior Stadium was cancelled due to HSU suspending its soccer team's season.
About Chico State (4-2-1, 3-1-1 CCAA): The Wildcats defeated Sonoma State 1-0 last Friday as their only contest of the week. Chico will only face Cal State Stanislaus this weekend. Akwafei Ajeakwal leads with three goals on a low-scoring offensive team. The Wildcats have only scored 10 goals this season.
