Box Score TURLOCK — A dry spill in the second half turned out to be the end of the Warriors' run as Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 70-63, Saturday night.
The Stanislaus loss, in another tight game, spoiled senior night and for the Warriors to finish at home strong in the final game inside Fitzpatrick Arena this season.
Cal State Stanislaus went 7-plus minutes without a field goal, during which time a 11-3 Toros run turned a slim one-point Warrior lead into a seven-point advantage by CSUDH.
The Toros extended that lead with free throws down the stretch for the final count to improve to 15-12 overall and 11-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
After senior
Ray Mitchell's jumper at 9:23 left made it 49-48 in favor of Stanislaus, the Warriors didn't score a bucket again until a
Nick Hodge layup at 1:58. Three free throws was all the Warriors had to show in between those baskets.
In the end,
Taylor Bell led the team with 13 points, including three more three-pointers. Hodge finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
Sam Marcus came off the bench for nine points and six assists.
Lamine Diame recorded a double-double for CSUDH with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
The Warriors (9-15, 6-14 CCAA) will finish up the season on the road next week at Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay.
