ROHNERT PARK — The offense continues to struggle on Friday as Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer dropped a 2-0 match at Sonoma State's Seawolf Soccer Field.

With two late second half goals, Sonoma State moved to 3-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while defending CCAA champion Stanislaus lost its third straight to begin conference play.

The Warriors (1-3-1, 0-3-0 CCAA) has scored just one goal since beating Colorado Mesa, 1-0, in overtime on Sept. 7 in Nampa, Idaho. That lone goal came a week ago against Chico State when Carlos Gavino put-back his own missed penalty kick in the 23rd minute.

On Friday, the Warriors managed just two shots — neither were on frame — as Sonoma State out-shot Stanislaus, 14-2 with a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Cal State Stanislaus was also called on 24 fouls and received five yellow cards.

After the Warriors' defense and goalkeeper Clint Long shut-down the Seawolves for much of the contest, Sonoma State got a goal by Sean Callahan in the 73rd minute from a Nico Spann corner kick. SSU added a second goal in the 82nd minute on a breakaway by Chris Pihl.

The Warriors look to bounce back in Arcata on Sunday against Humboldt State. Stanislaus has not lost to a Lumberjack team since 2006 in Arcata and has gone 9-0-1 in the last 10 meetings. The teams did not play each other in 2012, when HSU suspended its men's soccer program.
