Box Score ARCATA — Jose Ramirez's goal with just a minute left in the first overtime period lifted the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team over Humboldt State, 3-2, on Sunday.

Ramirez scored twice on the day after Jose Ortega knocked in the first score of the match as the Warriors snapped a three-game skid with a much-needed road win. Cal State Stanislaus improved to 2-3-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the CCAA.

The Warriors are now 10-0-1 against Humboldt State in the last 11 meetings.

The so-far quiet offense got off to a fast start on Sunday as Ortega got the Warriors on the board in the 19th minute. Ortega lofted the bal over the HSU goalkeeper who came out of the box to make it 1-0. Ortega was set-up by Brady Taylor and Carlos Navarrete, both awarded an assist on the play.

Danny Ochoa's corner kick then found Ramirez, who scored on a header at 31:11 to make it 2-0 before intermission.

Humboldt State (3-2-1, 1-2-1 CCAA) answered with second half goals by Jordan Zogg and Mitch Butt to eventually forced overtime. Zogg's score came in the 54th minute and Butt's header came at 72:37.

In OT, both teams had a couple of scoring chances but came up empty until Ramirez's winner. After picking up a touch by Carlos Gavino, Ramirez broke-away from the defense and booted it 20 yards to end the match.

The Warriors have been looking for offensive consistency as they had scored just one goal in the three previous matches — all losses.

Cal State Stanislaus will host a pair of CCAA contests next weekend, first with San Francisco State visiting Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
