Box Score ARCATA — The Warriors' dominance over Humboldt State continued on Sunday as 11th ranked Cal State Stanislaus defeated the Lumberjacks, 2-1, on Sunday.

Karenee Demery and Tina Benson scored goals and the Stanislaus side controlled the match on all phases of the game as the Warriors stay unbeaten at 5-0-1 overall. Cal State Stanislaus improved to 3-0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association by extending its winning streak over Humboldt State (3-3-0, 1-3-0 CCAA) to eight games.

"We played an absolutely fantastic game against a very well coached and organized opponent who was really focused on just defending," head coach Gabriel Bolton said.

Demery scored her CCAA leading seventh goal of the season in the 49th minute on another header. Maryssa McDuffy had served the ball into the box from the right wing. Demery, who entered the week as the nation's leader in points, now has 17 with seven goals and three assists.

A little over 10 minutes later, Benson gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead with her second goal of the year. Benson was assisted by Sabrina Williamson.

"I was really pleased with the way our players responded to the challenge. You won't see two more beautiful goals in college soccer," Bolton added.

The 2-0 lead held up until the 71st minute as the Lumberjacks were able to get a goal off the foot Sydney Nichola — and that was pretty much all of the HSU's offense on the day.

The Warriors controlled the tempo of the match and held possession for most of the contest. They also out-shot HSU 21-4 (11-0 in the first half) and gave up just two shots on goal. Stanislaus also had nine corner kicks to Humboldt State's zero.

HSU goalie Kelly Lukas earned seven save.

Cal State Stanislaus returns home to host San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay next weekend at Warrior Stadium. The SF State Gators visit Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
