Re-match of regional contest on tab in San Bernardino

The Warriors and Cal State San Bernardino are meeting for the first time since last November during the NCAA Championships Tournament in Turlock. Friday's re-match is at 12:30 p.m. In a rare road-and-home weekend, the Warriors are back on Sunday hosting Chico State.

Series Notes: The Coyotes are one of the few teams with recent success against the Warriors with a 4-2 record in the last six meetings since 2009, prior to that Stanislaus was 3-0-1 against CSU San Bernardino since 2005. CSUSB leads the overall match-up 9-6-2, however, the Warriors have done well in San Bernardino with a 3-3-1 record at the CSUSB Premier Soccer Field ... Since snapping a three-match winless streak against Chico State (2009-2010), the Warriors have gone unbeated against the Wildcats in the last nine at 7-0-2 with the most memoriable a 4-0 win at Warrior Stadium to win the 2011 CCAA Championship. Chico State leads all-time series 14-9-6. The teams played a non-CCAA game on Sept. 21 in Chico (Stanislaus won 1-0).

Last Time Against the Opponents: Stanislaus's season came to a shocking end last Nov. 16 during the NCAA Championships second round match at Warrior Stadium. Cal State San Bernardino surprised the Warriors in a 1-0 overtime win to advance to the regional championship match. Melanie Aguayo scored at 97:44 to lead the Coyotes ... During the regular season match on Sept. 13, 2013, the Warriors blasted the Coyotes, 5-1. Mikayla Clifford, Katelyn Nebesnick and Keshia Lyons each added a score to Karenee Demery's two goals in that match ... Stanislaus beat Chico State, 2-0, last Sept. 15 in Turlock with goals by Demery and Tina Benson. The Warriors limited the Wildcats to just six shots (and zero on goal).

In the Rankings: The roller coaster ride in the NSCAA Top 25 continues for the Warriors as they dropped 14 spots, again, to No. 21 this week. Sonoma State moved up to No. 8 (up from No. 15) and Cal State L.A. debuted at No. 16 ... In the West Region rankings, the Warriors are now third behind Sonoma State and Cal State L.A. ... Stanislaus is ranked in the Top 25 for the 21st consecutive week during the regular season, dating back to the start of the 2012 season.

Scoring in Two's: For the third time this season, Mikayla Clifford scored two goals in a match during last Friday's 4-2 win at UC San Diego. She also scored twice in the season opener at California Baptist (Sept. 4) and netted two scores on Sept. 13 against Academy of Art ... Other Warriors with two or more goals in a match this season were Jade Poon (four times), Kirsten Coleman (twice), Sabrina Williamson and Sara Latham.

Another 1-0 Road Loss: For just the second time this season the Warriors suffered a loss - both matches were 1-0 scores on the road. In fact, these are the only two road losses for the Warriors in 28 matches (22-2-4) dating back to the middle of the 2011 season.

CCAA Leaders: The Warriors are all-over the CCAA stats leaderboard with Jade Poon the top scorer at 11 goals (one ahead of Sonoma State's Lauren Curtain). Poon also leads the conference with 25 points (Curtain, 22) and is second in shots with 43 (Curtain 53) and 21 shots on goal (Curtain, 26) ... Kirsten Coleman and Mikayla Clifford are tied for third in goals (7) and points (16) ... Karli Nestler is second with six assists, one behind SF State's Kelsey Wetzstein ... Chelsea Lewandowski is seventh with a 0.97 goals-against-average, 10th in saves (26) and ninth in saves percentage (.743). She's tied for third with four shutouts.

Kicking Cancer: In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Warriors will be wearing some pink with their uniforms on Sunday during the Kick Cancer Match. Fans will receive a special edition pink Warrior T-shirt with a donation. Proceeds will benefit a local charity.

About Cal State San Bernardino (10-3-0, 3-3-0 CCAA): The Coyotes were ranked as high as No. 8 on Sept. 30 after starting the year 9-0-0. Since then they lost three straight until Sunday's 1-0 win at Humboldt State as the 25th ranked team. CSUSB dropped out of the top 25 this week ... During the three-match losing streak, the Coyotes were outscored 6-0 ... CSUSB has eight shutouts this season including a stretch of five straight ... Kiana Quarles leads the team with five goals and Emily Whyte has a 0.71 GAA with 33 saves and six shutouts.

About Chico State (6-4-2, 3-2-1 CCAA): The Wildcats are currently in fourth place in the CCAA after going 2-1-1 over the last two weekends. They are coming off a 1-0 loss at Sonoma State on Sunday ... Goalkeeper Brianna Furner is tied for second in the conference with a .815 saves percentage and is fourth with a 0.83 goals-against average ... As a team, Chico has only scored 16 goals but allowed just 10. Lindsey Dias and Shelby Lanskbury each scored three.
