Box Score LA JOLLA — The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team opened the California Collegiate Athletic Association season on a high note Friday night at UC San Diego but the Warriors eventually lost the match to the Tritons in four sets, 20-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-21.
Blair Ehrlich and
Lindsay Skadeland led Stanislaus with nine and eight kills, respectively, but the Warriors dropped the conference opener and fell to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the CCAA.
The Warriors, however, caught the 14th ranked Tritons by surprise in the first set with two nice runs of five points and eventually put-away UC San Diego, 25-20, that ended with a Ehrlich kill after a Stanislaus timeout.
UC San Diego (3-2, 1-0 CCAA) did prove to be too strong, rolling off 11 consecutive points in the middle of the second set to take control of the entire match and never looked back.
Caitlin Brenton and Danielle Dahle each had 15 kills to lead UCSD.
The Warriors are at Cal Poly Pomona Saturday night before finally playing a regular season match at home at Fitzpatrick Arena next Friday.
