Box Score SAN BERNARDINO — The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team lost to a nationally ranked team for the third time in 10 matches this season, but Saturday night, against powerhouse Cal State San Bernardino, the Warriors pushed the Coyotes all the way.
Depsite the 3-0 final score (25-22, 25-20, 25-19), No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes did not win in one-sided fashion before improving to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Jocelyn Cervantes led the Warriors with 12 kills and
Blair Ehrlich had nine, but the Warriors fell to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in the CCAA.
Hailey Gruetzmacher had 14 digs and
Paige Walker had 11 digs.
Alexandra Torline again led the Coyotes on the attack with 16 kills and a .303 attack percentage, while sound blocking by a host of Coyotes and quickness by Arielle McCullough and Abbey Vollkommer were all critical factors in the win for CSUSB. In all the Coyotes recorded 10.5 team blocks with 3 solo blocks and 15 assisted.
The loss is the Warriors' 27 straight against Cal State San Bernardino and the 17th consecutive at Coussoulis Arena.
Cal State Stanislaus will be home for three matches this week, hosting Chico State (Wednesday), Cal State L.A. (Friday) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (Saturday).
