TURLOCK — The Warriors didn't just win their final game of the 2014-15 season on senior night. They won by a humongous 36-point margin over Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.
With five players in double-digits in scoring — and 11 three-pointers — the Warriors beat the Otters, 82-46, to end the year 9-17 overall and 7-15 in the CCAA. It was the Warriors' largest win in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game since Dec.19, 1998 — the program's first year in the conference. Way back in 1998, the Warriors beat Cal State L.A., 105-57.
The margin of victory was also Stanislaus' biggest win of any kind since a 100-46 win over Cal Maritime on Nov. 20, 2010.
Camille Roberts nailed five three-pointers to lead the Warriors with 17 points and
Briana Cotton, the lone senior on the team, had 14 points.
Aleseana Whitney scored 12 while both
Jasmine Washington and
Cassidy Sanders-Curry each netted 10.
For Cotton, the four-year standout ended up with 961 career points, which puts her sixth on the Stanislaus career top 10 list during the CCAA era.
The Warriors pulled away early with a 17-0 run in the middle of the first half for a commanding 35-9 lead. Then a 15-0 run early in the second half that featured four Roberts three-pointers in a 2:47 stretch extended the Stanislaus lead to 57-24 at 12:06 left to play.
Finally a 9-0 run gave a 45-point Warrior advantage, 71-36, at 3:26 remaining for the Warriors' biggest lead.
As a team the Warriors made 11 three-pointers versus Cal State Monterey Bay's 1 of 17 night behind the arch. Stanislaus also forced 21 Otter turnovers on 12 steals.
Sanders-Curry added eight rebounds to her totals, which also included three assists and three steals.
Riley Holladay had nine points and seven rebounds.
Cal State Monterey Bay (7-20, 5-17 CCAA) was led by Jenna Bandy with 14 points and eight rebounds.
