Women's soccer embarks on trip to Washington

Back up to the state where last year's postseason run started, the women's soccer team hopes to find more success with a pair of matches against GNAC teams Saint Martin's and Central Washington.

Friday
Warriors at Saint Martin's, Lacey, Wash., 2:30 p.m. | [Live Stats]

Sunday
Warriors at Central Washington, Ellensburg, Wash., 12:30 p.m. | [Live Stats]

Series Notes: The Warriors and the Saint Martin's Saints have only met once, back on Aug. 30, 2012 in a 3-0 Stanislaus win … Stanislaus is 3-2-1 against Central Washington but has not lost in the last four meetings, including last year's 6-1 win in Turlock. This is the Warriors' second trip to Ellensburg (won 1-0, in 2005 there).

Success in Washington & against GNAC: Stanislaus State went 2-0 in two NCAA tournament matches last November in the state of Washington with wins versus Seattle Pacific and Western Washington. Dating back to the start of the 2008 season, the Warriors are unbeaten (11-0-1) in the last 12 matches against a GNAC opponent including four wins in 2014.

Moineau Scores More: Jordan Moineau capped off a great opening week with a pair of scores in Monday's 4-0 win over Southern Oregon. She nailed both of her shots four those two goals in just 58 minutes of play. Through three matches, Moineau has three goals and an assist. She had four career goals entering this season.

Squarcia Also With a Brace: Gabby Squarcia also netted two goals in a match last week with a pair of scores in Saturday's 4-1 come-from-behind win over Fresno Pacific. The transfer introduced herself to Warrior Nation by tying the game with a sweet dribble drive blast past defenders in the 24th minute.

New Scorers: Of the team's eight goals, only one was scored by one of Warriors' returning top scorers. Jade Poon, who led the team with 13 last year as a freshman, scored Monday night. Kirsten Coleman (10 goals in 2014), Mikayla Clifford (7 goals) and Sabrina Williamson (3 goals, 6 assists) have not been on the board, yet.

All-Tournament Picks: Gabby Squarcia, Maryssa McDuffy, Nicole Bare and Sabrina Williamson were all selected to the Warrior Challenge all-tournament team for their performances last week.

Lewandowski Passes 100: With 11 saves, Chelsea Lewandowski had surpassed the 100-save mark now with 107.

This Used to Be Her Playground: When the Warriors take the pitch on Saturday at Central Washington, it will mark the return of Warrior assistant coach Kaycie Hutchins. Hutchins was a four-year starter at Central Washington (2007-2011) and was also on the coaching staff. Hutchins is CWU's all-time leader in assists and finished her Wildcats career with 16 goals and 25 assists.

About the Opponents: Saint Martin's (0-1-0) opened with a 2-0 loss against Chico State last Thursday. Coming off a 3-13-2 season in 2014, SMU was picked 8th in the GNAC preseason poll … Central Washington will face Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday before taking on the Warriors. CWU is 1-2-0 with a loss to Sonoma State a 2-1 win over SF State and a 0-1 loss versus Regis. Reilly Retz and Shaina Mitchell scored the goals for Central against SF State.
