Warriors take down Cal Poly Pomona to snap skid

TURLOCK – Stanislaus State brought their three-match losing streak to an end Saturday night as they beat Cal Poly Pomona in straight sets at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
 
After losing three matches in the last two weeks, the Warriors, now 6-8 overall, 3-2 in the CCAA, got back on the win-column as they swept the Broncos (4-10, 0-5 CCAA), 25-22, 25-14, 25-21.
 
The Warriors started off the first set strong with a six-point run served by Blair Ehrlich, putting them ahead 20-13. Two runs of five or more points put the Warriors ahead 17-4 in the second set. After falling behind in the third set, Maddi Seidl served another series of six consecutive points allowing the Warriors to regain the lead on the Broncos before closing out the match.
 
Ehrlich led the Warriors front row with 11 digs while Taylor Massengale smashed nine. Maddi Seidl handed out 29 assists and Sara Schell dled the Warriors back row with 11 digs.
 
Alexandra Gresham led the Broncos offense with 11 kills and Samantha Figueroa had 20 digs.
 
Stan State will be back at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena for another conference game on Wednesday as they take on the Wildcats of Chico State at 7 p.m.
