Warrior volleyball heads off to the CCAA tournament

The Warriors are traveling to San Bernardino to participate in the conference championship tournament, where the top four teams from each CCAA division will compete for the tournament title and a bid into the NCAA tournament.

Series Notes: Last time the Warriors and Tritons met was on State State's senior night on Nov. 5. The Warriors swept the Tritons in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16. The Warriors out-hit the Tritons 52 kills (.304) to 30 kills (.153), and out-defended the Tritons 70 digs to 48 digs. Blair Ehrlich had a season-high 22 kills (12 in the first set) to lead the Warriors.

Tournament Layout: The tournament quarterfinal matches were determined by division rankings at the end of the regular season. The top team in each division will challenge the fourth place team in the opposing division. Each second place team will face the opposing division's third place team, and vice versa. All quarterfinal matches will be played on Thursday Nov. 17…If the Warriors are victorious against the Tritons on Thursday, they will play the winner of Cal State Dominguez Hills and Chico State on Friday at 5 p.m.

Previous Tournament Appearances: Last season the Warriors appeared in the conference tournament for the first time. It was also the program's first postseason appearance as a Division II institution. In 2015, the Warriors were the 7th seed, and faced Cal State San Bernardino in the first round. The Coyotes defeated the Warriors in three sets to advance into the semifinals, where they defeated UC San Diego, continuing on to the conference championship match. 

Conference Leaders: Currently the Warriors have four individual player and two team marks on the CCAA statistical leaders list. Blair Ehrlich leads the conference in kills with 400 kills so far this season. Ehlrich also leads in kills per set with an average of 4.40 kills per set. In both categories she is followed by players from Cal State San Bernardino, UC San Diego, and Chico State … Maddi Seidl is second in total assists with 940, to date. She follows Torey Thompson of Chico State with 1017 assists. Seidl is also ranked in assists per set at third with 10.22 assists per set, following Thompson of Chico State and Jayann DeHoog of Cal State San Bernardino … As a team, the Warriors are ranked third in kills per set, with an average of 13.1 kills per set. Stan State follows Chico State with 14.2 kills per set and Sonoma State with 13.5 kills per set … The Warriors also fall in third in assists per set in the conference with an average of 12.1 assists per set. Chico State is ranked first with 13.2 assists per set and Sonoma State falls in second with 12.6 assists per set.  

Winning Streak: The Warriors are now on a three-match winning streak, having defeated three CCAA tournament contestants, UC San Diego, Cal State L.A., and Cal State Dominguez Hills over the past two weekends. They have also won four out of the last five matches, defeating San Francisco State on Oct. 29. 

Three Set Sweeps: This season Stan State's 13 wins all came in three-set sweeps, including all 10 conference wins. The Warriors are an impressive 13-5 in three-set matches. 
 
About UC San Diego: Currently Meagan Wright leads the Tritons offense with an average of 3.82 kills per set. Jessyca Beksa follows Wright with 2.70 kills per set. Marie Paris leads the Tritons offense facilitation with 9.97 assists per set. UC San Diego's back row is led by libero Lindsey Chun with an average of 4.13 digs per set, and Wright follows Chun with 3.63 digs per set.
