Alexus Martinez had six hits to set the table on offense and three Warrior pitchers limited Cal State Dominugez Hills as they swept the Toros in a conference doubleheader.
Martinez went 4-for-4 and
Kylie Ragsdale went the distance and gave up just four hits as Stanislaus State won game one, 5-1. In the nightcap, Martinez had two more hits to lead a 12-hit parade as the Warriors won 8-2 for the twinbill sweep.
Stan State is now 10-9 overal and 7-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, equalling last season's conference win total.
The Warriors scattered 23 hits with three doubles and a triple while the Toros (6-11, 3-7 CCAA) had 10 total hits.
Brianna Martens singled in two runs, scoring
Cassidy Duke and
Ruby Quiralte, in the third inning to gave the Warriors at 3-0 lead. Then they tagged on two insurance runs in the sixth with RBIs by
Katelyn McDonald and Duke, both with two hits in the game.
Ragsdale earned her seventh win of the year going all seven innings and gave up just one run on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
In game two, McDonald went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs, including a RBI double in the first inning and two run single in the fourth inning to key two rallies. Quiralte also went 2-for-4 and batted in two runs. Duke and
Bryanna Menor had two more hits each.
Martinez went 2-for-3 in the second game for her six-hit day. She is now batting .466 for the season, 27-for-58, in 17 games.
Karina Callazo earned the win in the circle throwing four innings. She gave up one earned run on hits.
Cheyenne Harper threw three two-hit shutout innings in relief to earn a save.
The series concludes on Wednesday with two more games starting at Noon.
