TURLOCK — The Sonoma State Seawolves had a few chances but they capitalized on three of them with well-timed services as the visitors blanked Stanislaus State, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Warrior Stadium.
The Warriors find themselves still looking for a win after two weekends of California Collegiate Athletic Association play as they fell to 0-5-3 overall and 0-4-0 in league play. Stan State will have almost a week to regroup as the Warriors take a break from conference action next week and play host to UC Santa Cruz on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Sonoma State, now 3-2-3 overall and 3-1 in CCAA, snapped a three-match skid against the Warriors. SSU was led by Andrew Ogilvy on the day. Ogilvy, a junior from San Diego and transfer from SF State, scored twice and assisted on the third goal.
Stanislaus State has lost four straight and was shut-out for the third time this season.
Ogilvy got Sonoma State on the board in the 39th minute on a header goal from a nicely placed pass by Daniel Theobald. Ogilvy would score again in the 61st minute as he beat a Stan State defense on a slide kick goal on next to the far post. He then assisted on the Seawolves' third score by serving a long cross-field pass to Raad Aljabi.
SSU's Luis Mendoza added the fourth score in the 84th minute for the final count. SSU's goalkeeper had a clean sheet with four saves.
The Warriors had numerous of great scoring chances but again came up on the short end. The best scoring chance was when
Rafael Chavez hit the crossbar in the 88th minute.
