Series Notes: The Warriors have come up against Alaska only three times, with a 2-1 record against the Nanooks … This will be the first time the Warriors will face Concordia Irvine … The Warriors have also faced Hawaii Pacific three times and they hold a 1-2 record against the Sharks. This will be the second time the Warriors are to face Western Oregon, seeking revenge for their 0-1 record against the Wolves.
CCAA Preseason Poll: Stan State was ranked No. 2 in the North in the CCAA coach's preseason poll, and they are predicted to participate in the CCAA Championship tournament once again. Sonoma State was favored to win the CCAA title, followed by Cal State San Bernardino, UC San Diego, and Warriors fall in fourth place in the preseason CCAA rankings.
About The Tournament: In its opening year, Stanislaus State gets the honor of hosting the first ever D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase. Stan State is one of six sites hosting the tournament. Each site is to host two teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Pacific West Conference, and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Stan State will be home to the 2015 seventh and eighth place teams from each of these conferences. Each team will play four matches and an all-tournament team will be awarded at the end of the showcase.
Alaska Leaders: Last week at the Springhill Suites Invitational hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage, the Warriors returned home having led the tournament in assists per set (12.38) and kills per set (13.23).
Ehrlich Makes All-Tournament Team: Outside hitter
Blair Ehrlich was one of seven named to the Springhill Suites Invitational all-tournament team. Ehrlich was number seven on the top 10 tournament kills list with 36 kills while averaging three kills per set. Ehrlich was also sixth with 3.58 digs per set.
More Tournament Stars: The Warriors had six additional players make their way onto a number of tournament leader lists.
Sara Schell landed the eighth highest hitting percentage (.222) and the eighth highest number of kills pet set (2.56) …
Victoria Larsen also made it onto the kills per set top 10 list with 2.50 …
Maddi Seidl was led all players with 10.46 assists per set …
Paige Walker had the tournament's fifth highest hitting percentage at .302 … At 3.38 digs per set,
Jocelyn Cervantes was seventh on the tournament's top 10 list …
Taylor Massengale was a tie for fourth with an average of 0.31 aces per set.
About Alaska: Amberly Jeane leads the Nanooks with 3.25 kills per set and Meagan Olsen with 3.33 digs per set … Alaska finished the 2015 season seventh in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 6-22 record.
About Concordia Irvine: Amber Rose leads Concordia with a .500 average hitting percentage and Taylor Dennison leads with an average of six digs per set … The Eagles are undefeated, including a win over UC San Diego last weekend … Concordia Irvine finished eighth in the Pacific West Conference with a 14-15 record in 2015.
About Hawaii Pacific: The Sharks are 3-2 with victories against San Francisco State, Alaska, and Montana State Billings … Hawaii Pacific finished the 2015 season seventh in the Pacific West Conference with a 15-13 record.
About Western Oregon: The Wolves are led by Abby Phelps who has amassed 3.64 kills per set and 4.5 digs per set … Western Oregon finished eighth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 8-21 record in 2015.
