TURLOCK – In a CCAA North matchup, the Stanislaus State volleyball team fell to Cal State Monterey Bay in straight sets on Friday night at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
The Warriors played a close game against the Otters, losing sets one and three by five or less points. Stan State gave up the victory 22-25, 15-25, and 20-15. The Warriors are now 1-16 overall and 1-8 in the CCAA while CSUMB advances to 11-6, 5-4 in conference.
Yisel Perez was the Warriors' kill leader with 10 kills,
Rachel Klopfer followed with seven kills, and
Breanna Cannon facilitated Stan State's offense with 24 assists. On defense, libero
Sara Schell led with 11 digs and
Morgan Miller had three blocks.
In set one the Warriors trailed shortly behind Cal State Monterey Bay for the entirety of the set, never falling more than five points behind. Stan State was unable to decrease the point gap in set two, earning only one point-run during the set. In set three however, the Warriors earned five runs of two or more points. Kaitlyn Iwamoto was injured, gave CSUMB the win.
Amber Tygart let Cal State Monterey Bay's offense with nine kills, and Maddy Underwood and Anela Visesio each tallied eight kills. Erica Chapa ran the Otter's offense with 29 assists, and libero Ashlynne Armstrong led CSUMB in the back row with 18 digs.
The Warriors will be back at Fitzpatrick Arena tomorrow night to host Cal State East Bay at 7 p.m.
