SAN MARCOS - Finishing off the weekend against Cal State San Marcos the Stanislaus State softball team went 3-1 in the series with a 5-3 victory and 2-5 loss against the Cougars on Saturday afternoon at the CSUSM Softball Field.
After splitting the day the Warriors are 23-28 overall and 13-23 in the CCAA. Cal State San Marcos is now 9-35, and 8-27 in league.
Cassidy Duke ended the day with three hits, a double in game two, and two RBI in the opener.
Ruby Quiralte was 2-for-3 in game one with two RBI, and
Bryanna Menor and
Morgan Balestreri also had two hits apiece in the opener.
Madison Mayol hit a double and batted in the Warriors two runs in the nightcap.
Stan State built off of yesterday's victories and started out game one with a run in the first inning. Quiralte singled up middle running in
Nicolette Vizcaino and putting the Warriors on the board. The Cougars followed suit by scoring three runs at the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Two more RBI singles by Martinez and Duke in the second inning tied up the game, and another Duke RBI at the top of the fourth put Stan State in the lead. After which, Vizcaino boldly stole home plate to round out the Warriors' final score.
Megan Stacy earned the win from the circle in game one pitching 6.2 innings. Stacy gave up two hits, srtuck out five batters, and is now 5-4 in the circle.
Kylie Ragsdale suffered the loss in game two giving up five earned runs and nine hits in six innings. She walked two batters and struck out one. Ragsdale is now 12-10 in the circle.
The Warriors will be back at home next weekend for their final series of the season. Stan State will host two doubleheaders against UC San Diego on Friday and Saturday. The first of two games will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
