TURLOCK — The Stanislaus State Warriors nearly gave a non-conference game away, but the bullpen again saved the day while
John Holleran delivered the go-ahead run in the 3-2 home team win Tuesday night.
Nick Voumard earned his national-leader tying 12th save of the season by closing out the game once again as Stan State extends its winning streak to eight games. The streak is the longest since 2009 when the Warriors won nine straight.
Stanislaus, now 28-14, will see Cal State Monterey Bay in a four-game series starting Friday night at 6 p.m.
Andrew Wheat went 2-for-4 to lead the Stanislaus, which had eight singles.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Warriors gave two runs away to William Jessup (28-14) in the fifth inning. A wild throw on an attempt to steal third went down the line to score a run and tied the score on a passed ball.
In the seventh, Holleran singled through the right side to score
Adam Nascimento as the eventual winning run.
Stan State used eight pitchers on the night but it was the usual hurlers
Austin Fitzpatrick limiting a WJU comeback with 2 1/3 innings of work allowing just one hit.
Micah Hall pitched a scoreless eighth and Voumard closed out the game with his 12th save.
