Warriors begin CCAA second half at UCSD, CSUSM

Stanislaus State begins the second half of the CCAA season on the road this week at La Jolla and San Marcos.

Better on the Road
So far this season the Warriors are better away from home at 7-2 than they are at home (3-4). The Warriors have only posted two winning seasons on the road with 7-6 overall records (9 wins in 2014-15 and 11 wins in 2013-14 including neutral site games). Stan State had three 6-5 CCAA away-game seasons.

Xavier Had Career Best Game
Xavier Francois
posted a new career-best game last Tuesday against Holy Names. He scored 18 points (previous best was 17 on Dec. 16) on 8 of 9 shooting (.889) with 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. It was also his fourth 10-plus rebound game with a career-high of 15 on Dec. 16, 2017 at Cal Maritime. He now has six double-digit scoring games.

Facing Top Offenses
This weekend the Warriors have the top task of facing the top two offenses and top two scorers in the CCAA. Cal State San Marcos leads the conference with a 82.3 points per CCAA game average, followed by UC San Diego at 75.5 per game … Ethan Alvano (Cal State San Marcos) leads the league with 22.8 points a game and Christian Bayne (UC San Diego) is second at 17.9 per game.

At the Half-Way Mark
Stan State completed the first half of the CCAA schedule at 6-5 and is in sixth place in the standings. They have enjoyed a 3-3 record in CCAA games at home and 3-2 on the road thus far … Stan State has six more conference games on the road and five at home (one at home the rest of January, on the 27th versus San Francisco State) remaining.

Inside the Key Numbers to Victories
There are some key numbers that had led to Warrior wins this season. The Warriors are undefeated (10-0) when leading with 5:00 remaining, 9-1 when outrebounding teams, 9-2 when committing fewer fouls, 9-3 when shooting 40 percent or better and 10-1 when out-shooting teams. They are also 5-0 when scoring 81 points or more.

Gave Up the Long Shots
As a team, the Warriors have allowed 115 three-pointers in 11 league games (2nd most in the CCAA). Only San Francisco State has allowed more (132). Opponents are averaging 10.5 treys a game and shot 37.5 percent. The Warriors have allowed 12 or more three-pointers in four straight CCAA games.

Last Time We Met... was on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2017 in Turlock. UC San Diego won 70-58 behind 20 points by Christian Oshita. Stan State was led by Andy Cleaves with 19 points.

About the Tritons: UC San Diego has won six straight including two road games last weekend … The Tritons sport the second best offense in the CCAA at 75.5 points per league game. UCSD has won by a 8.1 points margin, the best in the conference … Christian Bayne is second in the CCAA in scoring at 17.9 points pre CCAA game.

Cal State San Marcos is undefeated at 4-0 against the Warriors since becoming a CCAA program in 2015-16.
