TURLOCK — It took more than a hundred minutes, and the Warriors out-played the visiting Cougars, but Cal State San Marcos scored the only goal to win the season finale Saturday afternoon at Warrior Stadium.
Jose Valenzuela's goal in the 102nd minute ended the long match as Cal State San Marcos ends its season 8-7-2 overall and 4-6-2 in CCAA. Stanislaus State completes the 2018 campaign 6-11-0, 2-10-0.
Stan State out-shot San Marcos 21-12 but Cougar goalkeeper Justin Tesar made some great saves to keep the Warriors off the board. He ended up with six saves.
The Cougars also missed some golden opportunities in the match, including an open header that hit the post.
Edgar Benitez had four saves for the Warriors.
