TURLOCK — For the 12th consecutive season, the Stanislaus State women's soccer team posted a winning record as the Warriors defeated Cal State San Marcos, 2-1, on Senior Day Saturday at Warrior Stadium.
The Warriors completed the 2018 season 8-7-3 overall to extend the streak despite not making the postseason tournament. CCAA Championship tournament-bound Cal State San Marcos is 7-7-3, 6-4-2 CCAA.
Ilena Rivera was part of both goals on the day as she scored the first in the 17th minute. She finished a play that started at midfield from
Sadie Ortiz, who found
Summer England in the far side. England touched the pass to a streaking Rivera for the finish.
Rivera then assisted on the second goal in the 39th minute. She played the ball over the top to Ortiz. Ortiz then used her fancy footwork to juke defenders for a point-blank shot in front of CSUSM goalkeeper Yesenia Betancourt.
Cal State San Marcos got within a goal by converting a penalty kick, by Amy Wilson, with 13 seconds left to play.
Senior goalkeeper
Haley Crook had three saves in her final match as a Warrior.
