LA JOLLA –The Warriors' women's basketball team took on No. 2 UC San Diego in La Jolla Thursday night. UC San Diego who continues to be undefeated, beat the Warriors 94-67.
Despite
Angelica Baylon starting the game off strong with a three pointer in the first two minutes and putting the Warriors on the board first, UC San Diego soon went ahed by 12. Coming out of the first half, the Warriors were down by 20 points.
The Tritons had five players score double digits, led by Sydney Sharp who made seven three- pointers Thursday night to finish with 25 points The Tritons improve to 18-0 overall and 14-0 in the CCAA at No.2 in NCAA Division ll. The Warriors will fall 5-14 overall and 4-11 in the CCAA.
Baylon led the Warriors on offense with 14 points.
Kyanna Davis continued to play great with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Caitlin Keding scored 11 points. The Warriors shot great from the free throw line going 21-of-25. They scored 34 points in the paint and were able to take 20 points from the Tritons off turnovers.
The Warriors had a tough night shooting from the field going 22-56.
Stan State fought through each quarter but went cold in the second half. UC San Diego had runs of points which ultimately led to their success.
Stan State got as close as 14 points in the fourth with three good shots from
Lauren Toler but soon after, UC San Diego took off to win by 27 points.
The women will take on Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, February 2, in San Marcos at 1 p.m.
