Members of the Warriors' women's soccer team met in the team room Monday afternoon to watch the selection show, hoping that their season has not end. After many, many anxious moments, the Warriors jumped for joy and hugged one another as they learned that they have been invited to the dance.
Despite a semifinal round loss to Sonoma State at the CCAA Tournament, the Warriors wouldn't let that take away their hope of returning to the NCAA Regionals.
The Warriors will advance to the NCAA Championship as the No. 6 seed in the West Region to face No. 3 Western Washington on Friday in Rohnert Park. This is Stan State's first NCAA appearance since 2014.

Gabriel Bolton, "Getting into the NCAA tournament is so difficult in our region. We have worked very hard all year and are committed to making the most of this opportunity."
Earning the No. 1 seed is UC San Diego for its final year in Division II. Â Cal Poly Pomona and Point Loma was the first match announced at No. 4 and No. 5. Sonoma State will host as the No. 2 seed and will play Cal State L.A.

Western Washington won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and boasts a 18-2-0 record. Friday's match against Western Washington is at 10 a.m. at Seawolf Soccer Field.Â
In 2014, the Warriors won the West Region after wins over Seattle Pacific, Western Washington and Cal Poly Pomona. Stan State loss in penalty kicks against Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., during the quarterfinals.
Stanislaus State also made NCAA tournament appearances in 2011 and 2013.
