Cannon, Wilson had career nights but Warriors came up short in quarterfinal match

SAN BERNARDINO — Despite lots of individual career or season high performances, the Stanislaus State women's volleyball team came up on the short end of the CCAA Tournament quarterfinal match in a 3-2 loss to Cal State San Marcos.
 
Up two games to one, the Warriors lost the momentum and the CSUSM Cougars took over for the 24-26, 25-22, 15-25, 25-18, 15-8 match.
 
The Warriors closed out another stellar season with 16-0 overall with their fourth CCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years with head coach Mallori Gibson-Rossi.
 
Top Warriors of the Night
Jordon Wilson smashed a career-high 17 kills with a .382 attacking percentage to lead all players. She also had two total blocks.
Yisel Perez also had 17 kills on the night with three blocks.
Sierra Adams is the third Warrior with 17 kills, hitting .256.
Breanna Cannon ran the offense full time and dished a career-high 57 assists. The 57 assists surpassed her previous best of 55 and ties for the third best tally in a match (Kendal Munoz had 57 on Nov. 9, 2012 vs. Cal State Monterey Bay).
Mary June Ubag and Krista Hernandez each had 16 digs.
• Mack Morris, who was presented with the Championship Scholar award in pregame, had four total blocks.
 
Key Points of the Match
• Two service aces by Mary June Ubag held off CSUSM set points and blocks by Cassie Corbett and Macky Morris ended set one in favor of the Warriors.
Jordon Wilson had quite a third set. She put away 6 of her first 12 kills during the set.
• The Warriors hit .491 in the third set to dominate the 25-15 win.
• After the big 25-15 third-set win, the momentum shifted to CSUSM the rest of the way.
• Cal State San Marcos was 23 for 55 with just one error on the attack in sets four and five. That's a attacking percentage of .400.

Breanna Cannon moves up to No. 4 on Stan State All-Time list with 1,892 career assists. She's now just one shy of Maddi Seidl for third on the list.
• The Warriors are making their fourth CCAA Tournament appearance in five years under Mallori Gibson-Rossi.
• Last CCAA Tournament win was Nov. 17, 2016 here at Coussoulis Arena. Win over UCSD, 3-1.
