ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Warriors fell short in the CWU Crossover tournament going 0-2 over the weekend. They played two tough teams which are both expected to do well in the GNAC and the Warriors definitely fought hard. The Warriors lost to Northwest Nazarene 76-63.
The Warriors continue with their season at 0-2 overall. The Nighthawks are 1-1.
LEADING PERFORMERS
- Several Warriors were the leaders in scoring. Kaleigh Taylor was the leading scorer with 19 points.
- Kyanna Davis was also in double with 11 points. She almost pulled off a double-double with her nine rebounds. Davis led in rebounds.
- Taylor was also a leading rebounder with eight.
- Davis also led the team in steals with five and Brittney Livingston with three steals.
- Taylor Pilot and Livingston both had three assists.
NIGHTHAWKS COME OUT STRONG
- The Nighthawks of Northwest Nazarene were fighting hard to win and they came out strong right from the beginning
- NNU led by 17 going into the second quarter and were leading by 16 going into halftime.
NIGHTHAWKS EXPECTED TO FINISH AT NO. 4
- The Nighthawks are expected to finish at No. 4 in the GNAC according to the preseason poll.
- Saying this, the Warriors help up against a team that is expected to do very well in their conference.
- The Warriors went 20-32 for free throws and had an overall percentage of 62.5 percent.
- Stan State scored 18 points off turnovers and 34 points in the paint.
- In the first quarter, the Warriors were shooting at 80 percent for three pointers and 68.75 percent from the field.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 2-7 against the Nighthawks since they first met in November 2003.
- The last time the two teams played, the Warriors lost 59-88 in November 2018.
- Stan State ended up picking up pace in the fourth and only lost to Nazarene by 13.

The Warriors come home for the Warrior Classic which runs from November 15-16. The home-opener will be against Holy Names on November 15 at 7 p.m.
