Seniors go out on high note with win over CSUDH Toros

TURLOCK — Seniors took the lead roles on Saturday in the season finale as Stanislaus State out-gunned Cal State Dominguez Hills, 87-82, inside Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.

With no postseason berth to play for, the Warriors completed the season full of adversity with a great win to end the campaign against a CCAA tournament bound team.

Rolaun Dunham scored 23, Andy Cleaves added 21 and Jacob Danhoff netted 19 as the seniors determined to end their collegiate careers with a win. Mat Bradshaw may have struggled mildly shooting the ball, he went all out defensively and ended up with six points on two three-pointers.

Those two three-pointers were part of the team's 14 on the night.

In a complete turnaround from Thursday night, the Warriors committed just eight turnovers (they had 28 against Cal State LA two nights earlier). They shot 51.7 percent from the field, including 19 of 31 (61.3 percent) in the second half.

Stanislaus (12-14, 9-13 CCAA) led by as many as 12 points early in the second half.

Late in the game, every time Cal State Dominguez Hills tried to comeback, the Warriors answered with a three-pointer.

CSUDH (14-13, 12-10 CCAA) cut the lead to six at 3:41, Danhoff nailed a trey. The Toros comes back to seven, Bradshaw drained a triple at 2:10 left. Dunham's bomb at 1:10 gave the Warriors a 10-point lead.

But, the Toros didn't go away. Back to back three-pointers by Colten Kresel got them within four with 22 ticks remaining. But on the ensuing in-bounds play, Cleaves's layup from a hail-mary pass from Ty Davis finally put the game away.

Cleaves also led the team with eight rebounds and Dunham had seven boards. Davis finished with eight assists and three steals. Dunham was 8 of 11 from the floor and 5 of 7 from long range.
