Hahn, Warriors dealt shutout to win finale, series over SF State

TURLOCK — On Senior Day, Kevin Hahn turned in a gritty performance on the bump as he completely shut-down the San Francisco State Gators as the Warriors took the final game with a 10-0 victory.

Seniors Vinny Margiotta and Braeden Oki led the way offensively with seven of the team's 12 hits as Stanislaus State wins the pivotal series 3-games to 1. The Warriors moved ahead of SF State for third place in the CCAA with 25-17 record (29-19 overall) heading into next weekend's final two games of the regular season.

First, Hahn. The senior righty nearly went the distance before running out of gas with one out in the ninth. He ended up with the best outing this season, going 8 1/3 innings and allowed just five hits with six strikeouts despite issuing three walks.

The only time Hahn really got into a jam was the first inning after a leadoff single and an one-out walk. But he got two flyouts to get out of the inning. After that, he allowed just three baserunners until the ninth.

SF State loaded the bases with one out in the final inning to force head coach Kenny Leonesio to bring in Brandon Scott, a senior, to finish the game. Scott needed just two pitches to induce a grounder to third with Grant Victor starting a tremendous double-play to end the game.

Offensively, the Warriors took advantage of some early miscues by the Gators. Stan State scored a run in the first on two throwing errors on one play. Then the Warriors put up a five spot in the second on just three hits and an error. SF State also had some non-physical errors in the inning that led to the big Warrior rally.

Stan State tagged on two runs in the sixth and eighth en route to the 10-run win, the fourth time the Warriors won by double-digits this year.

Margiotta went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in. He hit a two-run double in that five-run second inning. Oki went 3-for-4 and scored three times while extending his on-base streak to 24 games. Grant Bunker and Jack Large each drove in two runs. Senior Brandon De La Guardia had a hit, walked twice and scored twice and senior Michael Wyatt was 1-for-4 with a RBI.

Chico State comes into town next Saturday for a pair of make-up games. First pitch on May 4 is at 1 p.m.
