Rivera Scores Game Winning Goal over Sunbirds, No. 20 Warriors Remain Undefeated

FRESNO– Ilena Rivera scored the game winning goal and brought her team to another victory Wednesday night over the Sunbirds, 1-0. The women fought their way through a tough matchup but brought themselves another great win. The Warriors remain undefeated at 3-0-0 and most recently entered the United Soccer Coaches ranking at No. 20.
 
Fresno Pacific falls to 0-2-0.
 
GOALS
  • A tough goal to win the game- Stan State's Ilena Rivera dribbled into the box taking two shots before scoring on her second attempt in the 67th minute. 

GOALKEEPER NOTES
  • Alyssa Herrman started off strong with a save in the 9th minute. After FPU's, Alyssa Kincade took a shot, Herrman made the save with ease.
  • Herrman was on fire in the first half blocking shots left and right, earning two saves.
  • After the first half, the Sunbirds and the Warriors were tied in blocks with four. Hannah Hathaway held up with one save and two blocked shots on goal.
  • Herrman concluded her amazing night with four saves, earning her fifth shutout of her career.

  • The Warriors are now 9-0-0 against the Sunbirds since they first played in September 2003.
  • The last time the two teams met the Warriors beat the Sunbirds 2-1.
  • The Warriors outshot the Sunbirds 13-8 and 7-4 for shots on goal Wednesday.
