A day of stolen bases shows Warriors another split series

TURLOCK—The rain couldn't stop the Warriors from taking another win from the Toros on Saturday afternoon as they took game on by one, 2-1. Unfortunately, the teams would face de ja vu from Friday's game two as the Warriors fell 0-8 in six innings.
 
The Warriors split another series this year as they went 2-2 with the Tors. Winning game one 2-1 and falling 8-0 in the nightcap on Saturday.
 
The Warriors are 10-15 overall with a 9-11 CCAA record. The Toros are 16-8 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
 
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY
  • Despite the second loss of the day, the Warriors played good throughout the entire day.
  • Desiree Gonzalez went 2-for-6 over the day with one run. She also had one stolen base.
  • Aliyah Garvin went 1-for-5 through the afternoon with a double in game two and an RBI for game one.
  • Cherise Mori played great in right field and went 2-for-6 overall with one run.
  • Joerdan Lovell had one RBI going 2-for-6 overall.
  • Megan Stacy earned herself yet another win as she pitched three innings and struck out two. Stacy is now 3-3.
  • Kyndra Marzorini and Delaney Pamplin both pitch three innings in the nightcap. Marzorini struckout three and Pamplin struckout two.
  • Both Melissa Spencer and Sydney Crippen-Lay stole a base in the first game.
  • Collectively both teams made 12 stolen bases on Saturday off batters faking out the pitchers on both sides.
  • Game two was a messy game overall which was comparable to Friday's second game. The Toros had 12 hits and eight runs forcing the game to end in six innings. 
NOTEWORTHY
  • The Warriors are 50-48 against the Toros after the weekend since they first met in May 1999.
  • When the two teams met on Friday, the Warriors won game one 6-3 and lost in game two 0-8.
  • Overall, the team played great against a ranked team and were able to come out of this weekend with two victories. 
UP NEXT
 
The Warriors will travel to Arcata to take on Humboldt State in a four-game series starting on Friday, March 13 at Noon.
