CHICO — For the third time this season Sunday, the Stanislaus State men's soccer team suffered a tight, one-goal defeat. This time, it was host Chico State holding on for a 1-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association victory at University Soccer Stadium.

The Wildcats (4-8, 3-3 CCAA) scored their lone goal in the 27th minute, then battled to keep Stanislaus State (5-7-1, 1-5-0 CCAA) scoreless for the next 63 minutes.
Juan Perez scored the goal for Chico State, the first of his career, off assists from Liam Duerksen and Mauro Rafael.

The Warriors put three shots on goal in the game, two in the first half.
Julian Madrigal got open in the 16th minute and fired a low shot in the center of the goal, but it was saved.
Josh Santillan also put a strong leg on a shot in the same spot during the 34th minute, but Chico State goalkeeper Luis Albarran kept his sheet clean with another save.

Jesus Nunez made a season-high seven saves. Chico State outshot the Warriors, 11-7, including 8-3 on goal.

The Warriors next host their final home games of the season on Friday and Sunday. Friday, Cal State San Marcos visits for a game under the lights at 7 p.m. Sunday is Senior Day for the Warriors, where the team will honor its seniors in a pregame ceremony before a 2 p.m. kickoff against Cal State San Bernardino.
