Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — Sunday's match between the San Francisco State and Stanislaus State women's soccer teams couldn't have been more even on paper, but the only number that mattered was goals, and that's where the host Gators rose above, nipping the Warriors, 1-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match at Cox Stadium.
Â
Shots (10-9 SF State), shots on goal (8-8), corner kicks (4-3 Stan State) and even fouls (5-5) were all dead even. But the Gators (8-7-2, 6-2-2 CCAA) rode their one goal – an unassisted score in the 34th minute by Glory Smith – to victory.
Â
The Stanislaus State (7-6-3, 5-3-3 CCAA) defense once again limited its opponent to just one goal, the 12th time in 16 games it has allowed zero or one goal. And the Warriors put eight of their nine shots on goal, but SFSU goalkeeper Marcella Salyer made all eight saves.
Â
"We fought hard for all 90 minutes today against a well-coached and organized SF State team," said Stanislaus State head coach
Gabriel Bolton. "Unfortunately, things just didn't fall our way. We created lots of opportunities to find the back of the net but we just weren't able to convert them."

Stanislaus State will close its regular season Thursday on the road at Cal State East Bay. Fans can find all live coverage links at WarriorAthletics.com.
