TURLOCK, Calif.---- Stan State posted its sixth shutout of the season this afternoon with a scoreless draw with the visiting Sonoma State Seawolves.
Robby Rosas had five saves en route to his fifth shutout in goal for the Warriors.
FIRST HALF: Sonoma State (4-4-3, 1-2-1 CCAA) had the first chance of the match to score in the tenth minute when
Robby Rosas stopped Patrick Neill's shot on goal attempt. The Warriors' first shot attempt came in the 29
th minute when
Jack Montejano's shot attempt went wide left of the goal. Five minutes later,
Dayne Sturtevant had a chance for the match's first goal but it went wide of the goal. The guests had two chances in the final minutes of the half to take the lead, but Rosas stopped Bryan Rosales and Neill's attempt as the match went scoreless into the half.
SECOND HALF: Stan State (4-3-4, 1-2-1 CCAA) came out of the locker room on fire. Two minutes into the new stanza, Finn Hoffman saw his shot on goal attempt be stopped by Reinier ter Riet. In the 54
th minute, the Warriors had two chances for lead be blocked one by Sturtevant and the other by
Daniel Gomez.
Jorge Lara looked like he was going to give the Warriors the lead, but the Seawolf keeper came up with one of his two saves on the day. Sonoma State's saw its last chance for the lead sail wide left off the foot of Neill in the 82
nd minute. Three minutes later,
Chase Koptieff's chance to the be the hero sailed high over the crossbar as the match ended in a scoreless draw.
SIX: The Warriors posted his sixth shutout of the season this afternoon in their scoreless draw with Sonoma State.
Robby Rosas has five of those six including today's while recording five saves.
ALMOST EVEN STEVEN: Sonoma State held a 12-11 shot advantage this afternoon.
Dayne Sturtevant had three of those attempts including one on goal while
Daniel Gomez had two shot attempts for the
Warriors.
NEXT WEEK: The Warriors will return to the pitch this Thursday, October 6 in Arcata when they face Cal Poly Humboldt at 12:30pm. They will return home when Stan State hosts Chico State at Warrior Field on Sunday, October 9 at 11:30am.
