Stan State to Face Cal State Los Angeles in CCAA Semi-finals this Friday

CCAA Soccer ChampionshipsTURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State women's soccer will face Cal State Los Angeles in the CCAA Championship Semi-finals this Friday, November 4 at 2pm at the Seawolf Soccer Field on the campus of Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, Calif.  The Warriors were CCAA Co-Champions with Sonoma State and are the number two seed in this week's championship.  In the first semi-final match on Friday at 11:30am, Sonoma State will face Chico State.  The winners of the two semi-final matches will face each other for the CCAA Tournament Championship on Sunday, November 6 at 1pm with the winner receiving the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Soccer Championship. 

RECAP OF LAST WEEK:  Stanislaus State defeated Cal State East Bay in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory on Thursday in its regular season home finale.  The Warriors were down 1-0 with thirty minutes left in the match when Makeila Yancey scored the tying goal.  With four minutes left in the match, Jackzeny Mancilla scored the game-winning goal for the Warriors as they cliched a share of the CCAA Regular Season Title.  Alexia Estrada had six saves in goal for the Warriors.  This was Stan State's first CCAA Title since 2013. 
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 10-3-4 overall and finished the conference season with a 7-2-2 record.  Alexis Brewah leads the team with her 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points.  She has two game-winning goals.  Right behind Brewah is Sabrina Cabrera with seven goals, one assist and 15 points.  Cabrera has a team high four game-winning goals.  Third on the team ins coring is Jackzeny Mancilla with four goals, one assist and nine points.  She also has two game-winning goals. 
 
CCAA CO-CHAMPIONS:  With their win over Cal State East Bay on Thursday, Stan State captured a share of the CCAA Regular Season title with Sonoma State. The Seawolves received the number one seed in this week's CCAA Championship Tournament while the Warriors received the number two. 
 
In the first round of the CCAA Championship, Chico State (the fourth seed) defeated Cal Poly Humboldt 2-1 in overtime while Cal State Los Angeles (the third seed) defeated Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 on Sunday. 
 
In the semi-finals this Friday, Sonoma State will face Chico State at 11:30am and Stan State will face Cal State Los Angeles at 2pm.  The winners will meet for the CCAA Championship Tournament Title on Sunday at 1pm.  The winner will receive the league's automatic berth.

MOVIN' ON UP: Alexis Brewah is now fifth on the Warriors' all-time single season list with nine assists. She is tied for seventh with ten goals and ninth with her 29 points.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Three Stan State women's soccer players have been either the CCAA/Pixellot Women's Soccer Offensive or Defensive Player the last three weeks.  Alexia Estrada was named the Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 10-16) as was Jocelyn Lopez (Oct. 24-27).  Alexis Brewah was named the Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 17-23).
 
WARRIORS RANKED EIGHTH IN WEST REGION:  Stan State was ranked eighth in last week's NCAA Division II West Region Rankings.  The top six teams on November 7 will receive a berth in the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships. The next regional rankings will be released on November 2. The selection show for the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship is set for 3:30pm (PT) on November 7. This year's NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship will start on November 10 with the First Round. The Second Round will be on November 12 followed by the Third Round on November 17. The quarterfinals are set for November 19. This year's semi-final and final will be a part of the NCAA Division II Fall Festival in Seattle, Wash. The NCAA Division II National Men's and Women's Soccer Championships' semi-final and final will take place on December 1 and 3 at Interbay Stadium.

AMONGST NATIONAL/CONFERENCE LEADERS:  Alexis Brewah and Alexia Estrada are in the top 25 in the nation in six statistical categories.  Brewah is 15th in total assists, 16th in assists/game and 23rd in total points. Estrada is 18th in total saves, 19th in saves percentage and 24th in saves per game. 
Four Warriors are amongst the CCAA leaders in statistics in Brewah and Estrada along with Sabrina Cabrera and Jackzeny Mancilla.  Brewah is tied for first in assists, second in goals and points and tied for eighth in game-winning goals.  Cabrera is second in game-winning goals, fourth in points and tied for fourth in goals while Mancilla is tied for eighth in game-winning goals.  Estrada is first in saves per game, second in saves percentage, sixth in goals against average and tied for eighth in shutouts. 

UPDATE ON THE GOLDEN EAGLES:  Cal State Los Angeles is 9-3-6 overall after defeating Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 in the First Round of the CCAA Soccer Championships on Sunday.  Liliana Gonzalez leads the team with her six goals, two assists, 14 points and five game-winning goals.  Areli Reyes has a 0.67 goals against average with a .814 saves percentage and 48 saves.  She also has seven shutouts.  In their CCAA First Round match, the Golden Eagles defeated Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 as Gonzalez scored a goal and assisted on Morgan Patea's goal.
