LAST MATCH: It was a tale of two matches last week, as the Warriors cruised by Cal Poly Humboldt in 3-0 victory, then took an 0-3 loss themselves against Sonoma State. The team stayed on the road for both matches and will continue their away matches until their Title IX 50
th Anniversary game on Friday, Oct. 7
th.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stanislaus State is now 12-5 overall this season with a 4-2 at home and 4-3 record on the road.
AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: Warrior volleyball jumped up a spot in the CCAA rankings to #5 and are currently tied with Sonoma State, San Francisco State, and Cal State San Marcos at 4-4 in the conference. Defensively, Stan State has been one of the better teams in the CCAA at defending the net. The team is 2
nd in digs per set (15.56) and 2
nd in total blocks (136.0).
Alex Byrd has stepped up big as teams have started game planning for the Warriors' hitters, moving up to 3
rd in hitting percentage (.374) and 2
nd in total blocks for the season.
Gabby Rawson is still leading the conference in total digs (295) and digs per set (4.76).
WILDCATS IN REVIEW: Chico State and Stanislaus State will have a "mi casa es su casa" situation on their hands as the two teams will go head-to-head in each other's arenas on Oct. 5
th and 7
th. Chico is currently the top CCAA team in digs per set (15.61) and have two top ten hitters in Zoe DiNardo and Grace Shepherd. Their setter Brooke Ono is also 3
rd in assists per set (8.74).
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Wildcats command the all-time record at 20-9 against the Warriors since 2007. This will be the Warriors' first meeting of the season against the Wildcats, a team they defeated twice last season to add on to a three-game winning streak dating back to pre-COVID competition in 2019.
PENGUINS IN REVIEW: Dominican University gives Stan State a quick break from conference competition in their Saturday matchup. The team has struggled historically, having failed to get any wins so far this year after a 1-28 record in 2021. They faced a tough slate of CCAA teams early in the season and have had similar rough patches in PacWest play as well.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Since 2009, the Warriors are 7-0 against their non-conference foe. They saw three-straight matches go to five sets in 2012, 2013, and 2015.
