Warriors Volleyball Caps Their Regular Season Against the Toros and Golden Eagles

11/1/2022 1:16:00 PM

LAST MATCH: The Warriors went 0-2 last weekend without their full roster on hand, going 1-3 on the road at Monterey Bay and San Francisco State.

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Following last week's matches, the team is now 18-8 overall, 6-3 at home, and 8-5 on the road.

AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: Stan State has now dropped two spots to 7th in the conference to add to the many moving pieces around them that will determine playoff spots and seeding.  Now a game ahead of the Warriors after winning their last matchup, Stanislaus will bank on SF State losses this weekend to make the final cut. Meanwhile Cal State LA, Cal Poly Pomona, San Bernardino, and Sonoma State have all secured their spots in the playoffs. Last weekend the #1 seed Cal State LA Golden Eagles earned a share of the CCAA title.

TOROS IN REVIEW: Dominguez Hills sits at 3-13 for the season and have already taken two early losses to the Warriors back in September. With chances at making the postseason being very unlikely, the team will most likely still look to close out the season with some wins. They are currently 7th in both blocks and services aces for the season, led by Freshman Libero Angelina Robles, who is top 10 in both digs and service aces.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Historically, the Warriors command the series 15-10 and have won the last five matchups between the two clubs dating back to 2019. Stan State took 3-2 and 3-1 victories so far this year.

GOLDEN EAGLES IN REVIEW: Cal State LA holds the #19 spot on the national rankings coming into this week. With their CCAA title and #1 spot in the conference, their record sits at 14-2. Their most recent loss came at the hands of #16 Cal State San Bernardino, who the Warriors took to five sets and won just a few weeks ago. In the conference, the Golden Eagles are top 5 in most major statistical categories this season and are 2nd in kills and service aces. Sophomore Hitter Emily Elliott is currently 3rd in kills per set (3.41) and Freshman Outside Hitter Iane Hanke is 5th in kills per set (3.05) and 2nd in service aces per set (0.60).

ALL-TIME SERIES: Stanislaus State has only won two matches against the Golden Eagles since 2007. Their last win was back in 2016 when they took a 3-0 sweep on the road.
