TURLOCK, Calif. – The Warriors ramped up their efficiency, putting together their best shooting percentage from the field and behind the arc in a 62-49 win over Holy Names.
Liliana Marques led the team with 13 points on 3-6 shooting from deep to earn All-Tournament Team and MVP awards in the final game of the Warrior Classic.
FIRST QUARTER: The trio of Marques,
Makayla Rose, and
Da'Myiah Lewis took over the first period scoring for the Warriors, finishing with a combined 32 points. The Urban Knights managed to use their solid ball movement to keep the score within five points going into the second quarter down 19-14.
SECOND QUARTER: Marques opened up the second period with one of her three field goals beyond the arc, while
Jadyn Patterson got busy off the bench with a steal that led to a fast break layup and a three ball. A scoring drought in the last three minutes of the first half gave the Warriors another a five point lead heading into the second half.
THIRD QUARTER: Joia Armstrong got going in the second half, connecting more than half of her points in the third quarter alone to finish with 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, five steals, and a block. Seven turnovers by the Warriors in the quarter kept the Urban Knights within two points going into the fourth.
FOURTH QUARTER: Stan State made all but one of their shots from inside the three point during the final period.
Iman Addison and
Amaya McLeod contributed some late points off the bench and helped the team out defensively, securing the win 62-49.
TWO LEAD CHANGES: The Warriors were in control of the lead against Academy of Art of a vast majority of the game, only losing and regaining the lead early in the first quarter.
UP NEXT: The team's three straight days of games ends against University of Nevada on Sunday afternoon at 1pm in Reno. The team will then faceoff in one more home game before Thanksgiving weekend on Wednesday night.
