Four Warriors Listed on the 2022 Academic All-District® Women’s Volleyball Team

TURLOCK, Calif. – College Sports Communicators recognizes four Stanislaus State volleyball student-athletes for their standout performances both in the classroom and on the court. Sophomores Haley Burdo, Makenna Carrillo, Alex Byrd, and Senior Cassie Corbett have each been named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball team.
 
Corbett competed in 18 matches this year and saw increased production on the tail end of the season with a season-high 10 kills against San Francisco State. She's played in a total of 40 matches during her three seasons at Stan State and holds a 3.99 GPA.

Burdo played in all 29 matches for the Warriors this season, posting a career-high 34 assists in an upset win against Cal State San Bernardino and a career-high 20 digs against Dominguez Hills. She was also top-10 in the CCAA in assists per set (5.64) and service aces (0.48). She currently holds a 4.00 GPA and was a Presidential Scholar-Athlete member of the College of Science Dean's List last year.

Carrillo put up a career-high 13 kills this season in the San Bernardino upset win, playing in 19 total matches this year. She had a career-high nine digs in the CCAA Championship Quarterfinal against Cal Poly Pomona, and currenlty holds a 3.75 GPA.

Byrd received a CCAA Honorable Mention selection for her standout numbers on the defensive end. The Sophomore came alive this season, finishing 3rd in the conference in blocks per set (1.11). She's maintained a top-10 spot in that category for well over half of the 2022 season and was also 3rd in the conference in hitting percentage (.356). Byrd had season-highs of 10 kills, and 9 total blocks this season, including two matches with seven block assists. She finishes the regular season at 2nd on the all-time Stanislaus State total blocks list for a single season with 113. Byrd holds a 3.63 GPA currently.
 
The 2022 Academic All‐District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in late December.
