CARSON — Delaney Pamplin threw a complete game gem in the nightcap of Friday's series-opening doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills to help the Warriors earn a split on day one with a 3-1 win after the Toros had won the opener, 4-1, at Toro Diamond.
Â
Pamplin (2-2) only allowed one run in game two, striking out five against no walks in seven innings of work. The Stan State (3-8, 1-5 CCAA) offense backed her up, putting up 10 hits with three players posting multi-hit games.
Karli DalBianco and
Madison Flexser each had two hits with a double, and
Cherise Mori went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Â
Cal State Dominguez Hills (11-6, 2-4 CCAA) took the opener with its own gem of a pitching performance. Ashley Wies (5-1) came in to relieve in the top of the second inning after starter Alyssa Olague had already allowed a run in the first and walked the leadoff batter in the second. Wies proceeded to throw six shutout innings, striking out eight, walking none and scattering four hits.
Â
Meanwhile, the Toros offense came from behind in game one with four unanswered runs – one in the bottom of the first to tie it, then another in the third to go ahead and two more in the fourth for insurance. Pamplin put a stop to the rallying in the fourth with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief, only allowing one hit.

The two teams finish their series Saturday with another doubleheader, scheduled for an 11 a.m. start. Fans can find all live coverage links on WarriorAthletics.com.
