Warriors Sweep Doubleheader at Cal State San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO — The Stanislaus State softball team swept a doubleheader Saturday on the road at Cal State San Bernardino to split a California Collegiate Athletic Association series, beating the Coyotes, 6-5 and 2-1, at CSUSB Softball Park.

On the offensive side, Sidney Crippen-Lay posted two three-hit games, Madison Flexser had five hits across two contests, and Katie Thornsberry went 2 for 4 in both games.

Crippen-Lay's fingerprints were all over both games of the doubleheader. Twice in the opener, she drove home go-ahead runs. First, in the fourth inning to make it 3-2, and again in extra innings, driving home the eventual winning run in a 6-5 triumph. In game two, it was her RBI double that tied the game at 1-1 in the Warriors' last turn at bat during the seventh. She later scored the eventual winning run on Sheridan Gulley's go-ahead RBI single.

Victoria Alarcon (1-4) threw all 10 innings of game one in earning her first win of the year. She allowed only two earned runs and struck out 11. Delaney Pamplin also threw a complete game in the nightcap, striking out two, walking none and only allowing one run on a solo home run in the fourth.

The Warriors take a week off before hosting their own Tournament of Champions for the first time since 2019, on April 1-3.
