Marzorini Goes the Distance, Warriors Win Series Over Otters

SEASIDE — Kyndra Marzorini threw her sixth consecutive complete game in as many starts Saturday, only allowing one earned run to host Cal State Monterey Bay and helping the Stanislaus State softball team earn a California Collegiate Athletic Association series victory with a doubleheader split, winning the nightcap, 7-3, after falling in the opener, 7-4, at the CSUMB Softball Field.

Marzorini (5-9) also threw a complete game in Friday's nightcap and won that game as well. The Warriors (15-24, 9-19 CCAA) earned their first series win of 2022 – on the road, no less – and stayed within three games of a CCAA Tournament berth. Marzorini limited the Otters (29-15, 14-14 CCAA) to one earned run (three total) and struck out five in seven innings of work.

Five different Warriors had multiple hits in game two. Sarah Warden led the day, going 5 for 7 with an RBI and two runs scored in the doubleheader, including a 3-for-3 showing in game one. Stanislaus State's seven runs in the nightcap were the most it had scored in 13 games, since also scoring seven against Azusa Pacific in its Tournament of Champions opener on April 1.
