Warriors to Begin Their CCAA Season on the Road at CSUSB and CSUSM

TURLOCK, Calif.--- The 3-1-2 Stanislaus State women's soccer team will begin their 2022 CCAA season on the road in Southern California this weekend.  The Warriors will start off their two-match road trip in San Bernardino for a 12:30pm starting match on Friday, September 23 with Cal State San Bernardino.  They will finish off their road trip in San Marcos for a 11:30am starting match with Cal State San Marcos on Sunday, September 25.

LAST TIME ON THE PITCH:  Stanislaus State played to a 1-1 draw at Cal State East Bay this Saturday in Hayward.  The Warriors scored first in the 28th minute when Alexis Brewah connected on a ball from Arionna Imhoff.  Cal State East Bay tied the match with 25 minutes left in the match on a goal by Mika Sayfurahman. Alexia Estrada had seven saves in goal for the Warriors. 

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  The Warriors enter their game on Friday in San Bernardino with a 3-1-2 overall record with their only loss being a 1-0 setback to No. 15 Hawai'i Hilo on September 10 in Turlock.  Alexis Brewah leads the way for the Warriors with her five goals, three assists and 13 points.  Sabrina Cabrera is right behind her with three goals for six points of which two were game-winning goals.  Third on the team is Summer England with her two goals, one assist and five points followed by Alisha Garcia with one goal and an assist.  Four Warriors have recorded one assist apiece in Arionnna Imhoff, Taylor Lucos, Genesis Maciel and Makeila Young.  Alexia Estrada has a 1.17 goals against average with 38 saves, one shutout and a .847 saves percentage.

AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS:  The trio of Alexis Brewah, Sabrina Cabrera and Alexia Estrada are in the top ten in the CCAA in eight statistical categories.  Brewah is tied for first in goals scored (five), first in points (13) and second in assists (three).  Cabrera is tied for first in game-winning goals (two) and ninth in points (six). Estrada is first in saves per game (6.33), second in saves percentage (.844), eighth in goals against average (1.17) and tenth in shutouts per games (.167).

RANKED IN REGION:  Stanislaus State is ranked fifth in this week's United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II West Region Rankings.  Leading the way is Point Loma, Hawai'i Hilo, Sonoma State, Western Oregon and the Warriors.  Followed by Chico State, Azusa Pacific, Western Washington, Northwest Nazarene and Cal State San Bernardino.

UPDATE ON THE COYOTES:  Cal State San Bernardino is 4-2 after back-to-back 1-0 wins over Azusa Pacific and Cal State San Marcos.  Nathaly Losada Lucumi and Sarah Mahfund lead the way for CSUSB with her four goals, one assist and nine points.  Lucumi has two game-winning goals and Mahfund has one game-winning goal.  Right behind those two are Jocelyn Galvan (two goals, two assists) followed by Katherine Walker (one goal, two assists) and Sofia Melgoza (one goal, one assist, one game-winning goal).  Carly Luna has a 1.44 goals against average with 23 saves, .742 saves percentage and 3.5 shutouts. 

ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Coyotes lead the all-time series with the Warriors 12-9-2 including winning 2-1 in overtime in Turlock last season.  The Warriors last defeated the Coyotes 3-0 in 2019 in Turlock.

UPDATE ON THE COUGARS:  Cal State San Marcos is 2-3-2 entering its match on Friday with Cal State East Bay.  The Cougars are 0-2-1 in their last three matches tying Fresno Pacific (0-0) and losing 2-0 to Westmont and 1-0 to Cal State San Bernardino.  Diana Mendoza, Danielle Paulson and Hannah Ramos lead the way for the Cougars each with a goal scored.  Jordan Galvan has an assist.  Allison Marcurn has a 0.71 goals against average in goal for the Warriors with 16 saves, .762 saves percentage and four shutouts.

ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Warriors lead the all-time series with Cal State San Marcos 5-1-1. Stanislaus State has won five of the last six meetings including 1-0 last year in Turlock.
