TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State swept the visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) on Senior Day at The Fitz this afternoon in both team's regular season finale. Prior to the match, the Warriors recognized their two seniors in
Eyriana Eatmon and
Samaya Royal.
Alex Byrd and
Samaya Royal combined for 21 kills with
Haley Burdo recording her fifth double-double of the season with 30 assists and 10 digs.
FIRST SET: Stan State (9-18, 4-14 CCAA) jumped out to a 7-2 lead to begin the first set. A
Makenna Carrillo kill increased the hosts' lead to 13-7. Kayly Pau's kill cut the Warrior lead to 15-12. The Warriors took a 22-16 lead on an
Alex Byrd kill. Cal State Dominguez Hills took three of the next four points to cut the deficit to 23-19. Stan State finished the set off capped by a
Mariah Iosua kill, 25-19.
SECOND SET: Cal State Dominguez Hills (10-15, 5-13 CCAA) took an early 4-1 lead in the second set. An Ava Hurry kill increased the Toros' lead to 7-4. A combined block by
Alex Byrd and
Makenna Carrillo tied the set at 8-8. The Warriors rallied for five straight points including the last two on back-to-back
Gabby Rawson service aces. CSUDH came right back recording the next three points to cut the Warrior lead to 16-14. Stan State took a 20-17 lead on a
Haley Burdo kill. The visitors cut the hosts' lead to 22-19 on a Bailey Fuches' kill. Stan State took the set 25-19 as the Warriors took the final two points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
THIRD SET: A
Makenna Carrillo kill gave the Warriors a 7-4 lead in the next set. Cal State Dominguez Hills recorded five of the next six points to take a 9-8 lead.
Samaya Royal's kill gave the Warriors a brief 13-12 lead. The set went back and forth until a Royal service ace gave Stan State an 18-16 lead. The Toros tied the match at 18-18. The hosts took four of the next five points to take a 22-19 lead. Ava Hurry's kill cut the Warrior lead to 22-20, but Stan State finished the match off with the next three points to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Haley Burdo had a double-double with a match high 30 assists and 10 digs. This was her fifth double-double of the season and 29
th of her career.
WARROR LEADERS: Alex Byrd had 11 kills and
Samaya Royal added 10 kills.
Gabby Rawson and
Aubrey Miller each had two service aces. Byrd added five total blocks to go with
Haley Burdo's 30 assists.
Gabby Rawson had a match high 19 digs.
