Warriors Finish Season with 1-1 Draw at No. 11 Chico State

CHICO, Calif.---  Stan State finished its season with a 1-1 draw at No. 11 Chico State (11-1-6, 4-1-6 CCAA) this afternoon in both team's regular season finale in Chico.  Julian Madrigal connected on a free kick for the visitors' goal in the 37th minute. 
 
FIRST HALF:  Julian Madrigal had three chances in the first eleven minutes of the match to give Stan State the lead, but all of his chances went high over the net.  Madrigal finally connected in the 37th minute on a free kick to give Stan State (4-10-4, 1-6-4 CCAA) the 1-0 lead.  The Warriors didn't hold on to that lead for long as Carson Zarate connected on a double assist by Justin Ricketts and Preston Moll in the 39th minute to tie the match at 1-1.  The Warriors had a chance late in the half to take the lead back, but Marco Carbajal's shot attempt sailed high over the goal to the match into the half tied at 1-1.
 
SECOND HALF:  Early in the second half, Stan State had four chances to take the lead including at the 48th minute when Edgar Castaneda's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Wildcats' Emanual Padilla.  The Warriors had two more chances for the lead in the 60th minute when Kekoa Kiesling's shot sailed over the goal.  Padilla made another save in the 77th minute on a shot on goal attempt by Sammy Villanueva.  Justin Rickets had a chance to give Chico State (11-1-6, 4-1-6 CCAA) the lead but it sailed wide of the goal.  Stan State had the match's final chance for the lead but Finn Hoffmann's shot went over the crossbar in the 87th minute as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
STATS:  Stan State out-shot the Wildcats 20-13 including 4-1 in shots on goal.  Robby Rosas had no saves in goal for the Warriors while Emanuel Padilla had three saves in goal for Chico State.  The hosts had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
