Senior Day to Highlight Warriors’ Last Two Matches of the Season

 TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State's volleyball team will host their final two matches of the 2023 season this Friday-Saturday, November 10-11 at Fitzpatrick Arena.  The Warriors will entertain Cal State Los Angeles at 5pm on Friday. They will host Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday at 2pm on Senior Day.  Prior to the match, the Warriors will recognize their two seniors in Eyriana Eatmon and Samaya Royal.  
 
RECAP OF WEEK:  The Warriors went 0-2 in their final two road matches of the regular season. Stan State lost in three to Sonoma State on Thursday (22-25, 17-25, 22-25). Alex Byrd had seven kills and six total blocks to lead the way for the Warriors.  Stan State finished its road trip with a thrilling five-set loss at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday (13-25, 25-22, 25-13, 28-30, 10-15). Ellison Weaver had 15 kills and 16 digs and Haley Burdo had 28 assists and 12 digs to lead the way for the Warriors.  Gabby Rawson had a season high 39 digs.  
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 8-17 overall and 3-13 in the CCAA heading into its final two matches of the season.  Ellison Weaver leads the Warriors with her 199 kills followed by Mariah Iosua with 180.  Haley Burdo has a team leading 462 assists.  Leading the way for Stan State with her 37 service aces is Eyriana Eatmon to go with her 265 assists.  Gabby Rawson has a team high 477 digs and Alex Byrd leads the team with her 106 total blocks.  
 
HEAD COACH LAUREN FLOWERS:  In her first season in 2022 at the helm of the Warrior volleyball team became Stan State's all-time winningest team with its .655 winning percentage. The Warriors finished with a 19-10 overall record with the 19 wins tying for the most in school history.  They finished in sixth place and qualified for the CCAA Volleyball Championships.  In her two seasons, Flowers is 27-27. With the Warriors' win over then No. 21 Alaska Anchorage in the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic, Flowers has guided Stan State so three victories over top 25 teams.  In 2022, the Warriors defeated then No. 25 Winona State (3-0 in Carson) and No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino (3-2 in Turlock).
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Gabby Rawson is fourth on the Warriors' all-time career digs list with 1090 and her 477 this season is fourth on the single season list.  Haley Burdo is sixth with her 115 service aces and seventh with her 1635 assists. Alex Byrd is fifth in solo blocks (53) and sixth in total blocks (221).  Byrd is tied for fourth with her 23 solo blocks this season.  
 
RANKED NATIONALLY:  The duo of Gabby Rawson and Alex Byrd are ranked in the top 30 in the NCAA Division II in four statistical categories.  Rawson is 11th in the nation with her 5.42 digs per set average and 28th with her 477 total digs.  Byrd is 22nd with her 1.19 blocks per set average and 23rd with her 106 total blocks.       
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles in Haley Burdo, Eyriana Eatmon, Mariah Iosua, and Ellison Weaver.  Eatmon has 14 double-doubles in her career and one this season at Stan State while Burdo (28 career, four season), Ellison Weaver (eight career, four season), and Iosua (four career, three season).  Gabby Rawson has recorded one double-double in her career. 


HONORS:  Emily Vander Weide was named to the seven-team Stanislaus State Labor Day Volleyball Tournament. For the third time in her career, Gabby Rawson was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 28-September 3 and the week of September 4-10. She has been named the Defensive Player of the Week five times during her career as a Warrior.  Rawson was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska.
 
AMONGST THE CONFERENCE LEADERS:  The trio of Alex Byrd, Eyriana Eatmon, and Gabby Rawson are in the top five in the CCAA in six statistical categories.  Byrd leads the CCAA with her 106 total blocks and 1.19 blocks per set average.  Rawson is the CCAA leader with her 477 digs and 5.42 digs per set average.  Eatmon is tied for fourth with her .43 service aces per set average and tied for fifth with her 37 service aces.  
 
UPDATE ON THE GOLDEN EAGLES:  Cal State Los Angeles enters Friday's contest with a 15-9 overall record and a 13-3 CCAA record.  Emily Elliott leads the team with her 391 kills while Eliza Cannon has a team high 398 assists. Iana Henke has a team high 46 service aces followed by Elliott with 42.  Henke leads the team also with her 252 digs.  Haley Roundtree has a team leading 84 total blocks.  
 
FIRST TIME:  Cal State Los Angeles defeated the Warriors in four sets (18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 21-25) in Los Angeles on Sept. 16.  Mariah Iosua led Stan State with 11 kills and nine digs. Haley Burdo added 19 assists to go with Eyriana Eatmon adding 18.  The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 23-2 including winning the last seven straight matches.  The last Stan State victory in three sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) on Nov. 11, 2016, in Los Angeles. 
 
UPDATE ON THE TOROS:  Cal State Dominguez Hills enters its Friday's match with Chico State with a 10-13 overall record and a 5-11 CCAA.  Ava Hurry leads the team with her 189 kills with Bailey Fuches had a team high 432 assists and 30 service aces.  Nina Robles has a team high 378 digs and Jesi Diekman has a team high 68 total blocks. 
 
FIRST TIME: Stan State lost in four sets to the Toros on Sept. 15 in Carson (14-25, 25-23, 22-25, 16-25) despite Eyriana Eatmon's 12 assists and 15 digs.  Gabby Rawson added 23 digs and Mariah Iosua had 10 kills.  Stan State leads the all-time series 16-11 and is 7-3 in the last ten meetings with the Toros.
