TURLOCK--- Stan State had its winning streak snapped at six this afternoon at the hands of the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves in a non-conference match-up at The Fitz. The Seawolves held their hosts to just 29% shooting from the field including 31% from beyond the arc to key their 60-46 victory.
FIRST QUARTER: Liliana Marques' trey off a pass from
Mya Blake gave Stan State (9-5) an early 7-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game. The Seawolves finished the quarter with a 7-2 run to take a 10-9 lead into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: The Warriors outscored Alaska Anchorage (5-5) 8-2 in the first five and a half minutes of the quarter to take a 17-12 lead. The visitors took a 23-19 lead on a Mia Ross jumper with just 2:16 left in the half. A
Mya Blake lay-up cut Stan State's deficit to 23-21, but the Seawolves scored the final two points of the half on two Ja'Niah Alexander free throws to take a 25-21 lead into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: In the first three minutes of the new half, Kya Pearson's trey increased the guests' lead to 32-26. A trey by
Liliana Marques off a pass from
Aunika Hornung capped an 8-0 run by the Warriors to give the hosts a 34-32 lead with just 2:52 to go in the third quarter. Alaska Anchorage outscored its hosts 9-1 in the final minutes of the quarter to take a 41-35 lead on a trey by Elaina Mack.
FOURTH QUARTER: The Seawolves kept their run going in the first four minutes of the final quarter as they increased their lead to 53-40. A trey by Elaina Mack built Alaska Anchorage's lead to 60-43 with just 1:22 left in regulation.

STREAK SNAPPED AT SIX: Stan State's winning streak had its winning streak snapped at six this afternoon against Alaska Anchorage. The last time the Warriors won six games in a row was during the 2021-222 season when Stan State won nine games in a row.
DEFENSE: Even though the Warriors' loss this afternoon, their defense held their visitors to just 36% shooting from the field including 37% from beyond the arc. They also forced 20 turnovers with ten coming off steals.
Mya Blake led the way with four followed by
Liliana Marques with three. Three Stan State players had one steal apiece in
Iman Addison,
Aunika Hornung, and
Joia Armstrong.
UP NEXT: Stan State will return to CCAA play on New Year's Eve in Seaside, Calif., for a 1pm contest with Cal State Monterey Bay. The Warriors will return home In the New Year for a pair of CCAA games at The Fitz against Cal State San Marcos (Jan. 4, 5:30pm) and Sonoma State (Jan. 6, 1pm).
