TURLOCK, Calif.-- No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino used an 18-4 run in the second half to key the Yotes' 90-74 victory in both team's regular season finale. Kobe Ordonio had 19 points and five assists while Travion Williams added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Warriors.
FIRST HALF: A Darius Mickens' three gave Cal State San Bernardno a 13-7 lead in the first four minutes of the game. The Yotes increased their lead to 25-15 five minutes later on a three by Brandon Knapper. A Kobe Ordonio lay-up cut the Yotes' lead to 31-27 with 6:33 left in the half. An old-fashioned three-point play gave CSUSB a 34-29 lead with just five minutes left in the first half. Stan State (10-18, 8-14 CCAA) finished the half outscoring the Yotes 12-4 to take a 42-39 lead into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: A Benno Zecic three off a pass from Baljot Sahi in the first ninety seconds of the second half increased the Warrior lead to 50-42. A Brandon Knapper three capped a 15-2 run by the Yotes as they retook lead, 57-52, at the 14:00 mark of the new stanza. A lay-up by Kobe Ordonio off a pass from Marlon Short cut the Yote lead to 57-54, but CSUSB (25-3, 20-2 CCAA) increased its lead to 66-55 in the next four minutes. A three by Jeremiah Jones off a pass from Daniel Ameyaw cut the Warrior deficit to 69-63. The nationally ranked Yotes finished the game outscoring their guests 21-11 to take the 90-74 victory.
20/29: Stan State had 20 assists on its 29 made baskets led by Kobe Ordonio's five assists. Marlon Short and Benno Zecic each had four while the trio of Travion Williams, Mahda Fallay and Daniel Ameyaw each had two. Baljot Sahi had one assist for the Warriors.
STREAK SNAPPED: Marlon Short had his scoring in double figures' streak snapped at 17 this afternoon. He finished with eight points, but had six rebounds, four assists and a blocked shot for the Warriors. In his two-year career at Stan State, Short has scored 636 points and grabbed 308 rebounds.
FINAL GAME AS A WARRIOR: Kobe Ordonio had 19 points in his final game as a Warriors. He went eight-for-15 from the field and connected on a trey and went two-for-three from the line off the bench for Stan State. He also dished out five assists and recorded two steals.
ALSO IN DOUBLE DIGITS: Travion Williams scored 13 points for the Warriors. He went four-for-six from the field including connecting on a three and going four-for-five from the line. Williams had two assists and a steal in 34 minutes.
FINISHED SECOND: Benno Zecic finished second the Warriors' single season list in assists with 179. He finished five from breaking Richard Seay's record of 183. The red-shirt also had three steals this afternoon to finish with 65, which is fourth on Stan State's single season list in steals. For his career, the Alameda native has 321 assists and 123 steals. He is third on Stan State's career list in steals. He is 57 assists from second and 59 from breaking Ty Davis' (2017-20) record of 380.
